Implementation of large-scale health information systems

Purpose The study aims to analyze the previous literature on government initiatives implement health information systems (HISs). Design/methodology/approach Proknow-C (Knowledge Development Process-Constructivist) was used in selection of and bibliometric systematic analysis. Findings research identified a portfolio composed 33 articles aligned with theme scientific recognition, as well periodicals, authors, papers keywords that stood out most. Amongst 24 countries, England has been most studied nation, there is certain prominence arising from developed countries. Electronic records (EHRs) have explored technology. Efficiency safety care delivery, integration among organizations, cost reduction economicity are expected benefits programs. difficulties found related broader context which system inserted, management program, technology itself individuals. emphasized countries were marked by lack standardization/interoperability, acceptance providers users project financing. findings present article provide theoretical framework for future studies, addition yielding replicable process use. Originality/value This may be considered original it analyzes – through constructivism-structured (Proknow-C) phenomenon under investigation gathering review data concomitantly. technologies reported emerge itself.
